Dear
Parent/Guardian,
Your
child has been assigned to an allergy sensitive classroom. At least one of the
children in your child’s class has an allergy to peanuts, tree nuts, and/or
eggs. Strict avoidance is the only way to prevent an allergic reaction. A
reaction can be brought on by the touch and smell of the above mentioned
products as well as by consuming them.
We
must do what we can to provide all students with a safe learning environment.
During snack time, we do not allow the children to share snacks. Please read
the enclosed list of snack suggestions that our school nurse has provided for
your convenience. In an effort to allow all students to participate fully in
all class activities, we ask that you do not
send in any snacks, or party foods that have been listed on the enclosed
packet. Homemade items are discouraged. Also, if a snack does not have an
ingredient list, (i.e. a baggie of crackers or cookies, etc.), please provide
the label from the original box to be kept at school as a reference that the
item is a safe snack.
While excluded in the classroom, peanut butter sandwiches and snacks are allowed in the
school cafeteria. We offer allergy-sensitive children a special table to sit at
that is a “safe zone”.
We
need your awareness and your cooperation. With these precautions in place, all
children will be afforded a safe, healthy, and successful school environment.
In this way, everyone will be aware of what they can send their child to school
for snack. Adhering to this request is in compliance with the allergy sensitive
classrooms here at KES.
Please
don’t hesitate to call me, or the school nurse, with any concerns. Your
cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,

Paula J. Bartosiak
Principal
