Winter Activities
Grade 1
During the months of January and February the students will be working on
volleyball skills and gymnastic skills.
Student Objectives for Volleyball:
The children should be willing to try to:
 | Tap a balloon with fingertips. |
 | Work with two hands simultaneously. |
 | Keep a balloon in the air without holding/catching it. |
Student Objectives for Gymnastics:
The children should be willing to try to:
 | Demonstrate the ability to perform the motor content through a gymnastic
sentence. |
 | Be a courteous audience when others perform their movement sentence. |
 | Understand that each movement is very different and deserves its own name. |
Grade 2
During the months of January and February the students will be
working on volleyball skills, gymnastic skills, and the Fitnessgram format.
Student Objectives for Volleyball:
The children should be willing to try to:
 | Volley the balloon with different body parts. |
 | Execute a two hand volley overhead, against a wall and with a partner. |
 | Volley a balloon over a low net/rope. |
 | Set the balloon and volley. |
Student Objectives for Gymnastics:
The children should be willing to try to:
 | Demonstrate the ability to perform the motor content through a movement
sentence. |
 | Be a courteous audience when others perform their movement sentence. |
 | Understand that each different space quality can designate where their
body moves. |
Student Objectives for the Fitnessgram:
The children should be willing to try to:
 | Understand the rationale for the testing. |
 | Be aware of the proper position and procedure for each test. |
 | Understand the components of physical fitness: aerobic capacity; body
composition; muscular strength, endurance and flexibility. |
 | Work at their own individual skill level. |
 | Put forth their best effort on each test. |
